Lastly, before
moving to United States for graduate school at Brown University in 2001, I
worked at Nortel Networks R&D Lab and HFCL R&D Division in India on
embedded systems. At HFCL’s R&D division, I worked on design and
development of real time embedded systems including LA/DA (Line Amplifier/
Distribution Amplifier) for cable TV networks. This work, which was done in
1999, was one of the first few projects in the world to include intelligence in
the networks to deliver value added services to the end users. My work at
Nortel Network’s R&D Lab included research on voice browsing on mobile
devices, which was published (See the publication - A Protocol for Voice Request and Response
in Mobile Devices for Next Generation Wireless). I also worked on designing, optimizing, and developing features for
Nortel Network routers that are used worldwide including NYSE and AT&T.
