Re-configurable IR Based User Interface for Vehicles
Design Overview
- Mica2dot (from CrossBow) with IR transreceiver
- Mica2dot: 4Mhz Atmel, 4 kB of RAM, 128kB code space, a 433 MHz ISM Band radio, 50kb/s
- Even driven; disruption of IR reception triggers event at the receiver mote.
- TinyOS as the s/w platform
- Minimal wiring, except for external power if needed
- Motes still communicate via RF
- Multihop network of motes; utility of the system can be increased by placing other motes in the vehicle.
Advantages
- Can be relocated to any location based on user preference e.g. Front Windshield
- Minimal Wiring
- Ease of Use
Open Items
- Resolution of the Arrays required
- Visualization of the UI
- Temperature sensitivity of the IR communication
- Is it possible to get the Push button functionality with this system
