Cloud Management and Enterprise Systems at Oracle

Between February 2006 and September 2011, I worked at Oracle in business development across cloud management, virtualization, application and systems management. Much of the work sat at the intersection of complex software systems, product strategy, technical partnerships and the contractual terms needed to bring enterprise technologies together.

Systems, products and partnerships

Working with engineering, legal, product and executive teams, I supported partner selection, technical integration and commercialization. Programs involved enterprise technology partners including IBM, HP, NEC, Microsoft, Intel, EMC, Dell and Symantec. The work included the Dell–Oracle E-Business Suite turnkey program and the Intel–Oracle Real User Experience Insight appliance program.

Acquisitions, licensing and technology evaluation

My responsibilities included technology diligence and integration relating to six or more Oracle acquisitions, including Sun Microsystems. I worked on source-code and open-source licensing, co-development agreements, commercial technology arrangements, and governance questions involving software and infrastructure.

Connection to later scientific work

This experience deepened my interest in how large software systems are evaluated, deployed, integrated and governed under practical constraints. It later informed my technical advisory work on cloud infrastructure, AI systems, safety and accountability, and the separation of research hypotheses from operational claims.

This is a retrospective account of applied technology work, not a claim of original research publication at Oracle.
